First Crushes

My little Millie has got a crush on Matt Dawson. She loves to watch A Question of Sport with us on Friday evenings, giggling away although we are sure she hasn't got a clue what it going on. I love it as well, it's a fun, harmless, happy programme. Anyway last week she was sat watching it with me and asked where the 'young fellow' was. 'Young Fellow' I thought, what a funny thing for a five year old to say and asked more. His team was then shown and she said 'There he is, mummy. The young fellow that I like!' Bless her xxx This morning she asked when her friend Zoe would arrive for the weekend and I said she'd be here after A question of Sport. 'Oh good, Mummy, I can see that nice young fellow again. He's so cute and funny.'!!! Aww, she's only five! SHe could have chosen worse though, he is cute, he's sporty, a good dancer, a good cook (he won Celebrity Masterchef) and he is funny.

This is my latest FO. It is Dolly Mixture by Kim Hargreaves and is in Rowan 33. I'm pretty pleased with it and can see myself wearing it a lot this summer. The cups are too big though, si I will frog them and construct them differently with more shaping in them.

Here's this weeks portion of yarn pron. Beautiful, stunning Regia Cotton sock yarn from my lovely secret pal. The colourway is 4301, in the India range. I love it and will be casting on a pair of socks soon...once I've finished Maddies cardigan.

I seem to be finishing a lot recently, but most of it is stuff that has been on the needles/hook for months. I'm trying to add a modicum of organisation to my life. HAHAHAHAHA!

Maddie's hat

My little Madeleine came home from nursery complaining of ear ache yesterday. Oh bugger I thought, please don't start being like me and having ear infections. Anyway, I thought she could do with an ear flap hat to stop the wind whistling down her little lugholes so here it is :)

I used 2 strands of yarn held together and a 6mm hook. Treble crochet all the way apart from the edging which is double crochet. (That's double crochet and single crochet for my American readers :)) I used Rowan wool cotton again, to match her scarf but didn't have enough green, so the bright green is Rowan Handknit cotton and the dark green is Paton's diploma gold. She must like it, she kept it on all the way to nursery!

Todays yarny goodness is courtesy of Posh Yarn. This is Lucia, in Sway. I really want to get on and use it but I must, must, must finish Emilia's double scoop jumper first!

Yarn Pr0n and a pair of gloves

Can you identify this yarn? Have you got any? I need it to finish Juno from Rowan 40. It's a gorgeous squooshy yarn made by FFF I think.

The fingerless gloves are crocheted in Knitpicks Memories, S'mores. I added the frill around the bottom. They wre too big so I threw them in the machine and now they fit like, well, a glove! They remind me of some sort of big cat, maybe an Ocelot?

Yes, I know I haven't cropped and resized my pictures today...I've got knitting to do!

IT'S Crackerjack!





Actually, it's Yarn Pron Friday, and it's only 9:35am. Here's the pron courtesy of Gedifra. It's called Filorosa and is basically a large ball of yarn ends tied together! 135m to 100g. I want to make a scarf out of this, does anyone have any ideas for me? Maybe the basic swirly crochet scarf or perhaps something else?



Oh, I think Mum might need her ball winder back ....

Yarn Pron returns with a sock

Some yarn for all you addicts out there. Colinette Prism in Florentina, a wool/cotton mix.
I finished my first decent pair of socks. I love them. The pattern is from interweave spring 05 think and is called Cable Rib Socks. Knit in Fleece Artist basic sock. Absolutely gorgoeous!
Here's a good blog. She hand knits beautifully (in fact she taught me), she's a whizz with the knitting machine and takes absolutely stunning photos. Have a look, she'd love the feedback. Love you, Mum! xxx
