Maddie's hat

My little Madeleine came home from nursery complaining of ear ache yesterday. Oh bugger I thought, please don't start being like me and having ear infections. Anyway, I thought she could do with an ear flap hat to stop the wind whistling down her little lugholes so here it is :)

I used 2 strands of yarn held together and a 6mm hook. Treble crochet all the way apart from the edging which is double crochet. (That's double crochet and single crochet for my American readers :)) I used Rowan wool cotton again, to match her scarf but didn't have enough green, so the bright green is Rowan Handknit cotton and the dark green is Paton's diploma gold. She must like it, she kept it on all the way to nursery!

Todays yarny goodness is courtesy of Posh Yarn. This is Lucia, in Sway. I really want to get on and use it but I must, must, must finish Emilia's double scoop jumper first!

It reminds me of sugared almonds...

Sweet Maddie! The scarf and hat are both lovely and I'm very glad to hear she enjoys wearing them, sometimes it's a bit tricky, those hats and little girls...
The Peace Fleece....it's not a merino wool (so it's not ~that~ soft), and I've been busy trying to get some items 'off' my list so I've not swatched yet...but I have a link on my sidebar 'Jason Knits', and if you click on his link, scroll down through his blog a few posts...he's working on a sweater with it, he has swatched and bathed it, he says it just gets softer, 'they' claim it gets softer with each bathing...the colours are very pretty, very rich. Another person working with it now is Norma, listed under 'Now Norma Knits', she's using another colour that I got, although her photos don't really show the true colour very well at all, it is in fact a deep rich brick red, she's making a cardi with cables, it's quite beautiful....Kate A. at Astrikke also sings its praises. It's a good buy, nice yardage...you probably wouldn't want it right next to your skin, at least at first but I love it.
I have made a deal with Jo at FreeStyleFibre about Knitpicks, she orders it and has it shipped to me, I then ship it on to her, for my posting it to her we trade out in yarn on the order..(did that make sense?) I'd be happy to do the same for you if you're wanting some Knitpicks stuff :^) Maybe get with your Mum on that, in case she'd want something also?
Let me know.

The hat is so cool! I hope she doesn't have ear infections though, I also had loads of those as a kid and they used to make me so miserable....I don't have your email so I couldn't reply to your last comment on my blog but basically my pain has been OK until the last couple of days. I've come down with a cold and as usual this makes my whole body hurt. But the injections seem to have helped and I think I will be having them again. They only injected my back though, not my legs as I had expected them too. Hope your MIL goes on OK at the hospital this week. Hx
