Knucks and my weekend

I had quite a busy weekend, saturday was the usual mix of swimming for Maddie and dancing (ballet, tap, modern) for Millie. I'm sure we did something else but I can't remember. Yesterday DH went kayaking on the river Torridge, The girls and I stayed at home and did messy things. Potato printing, hand painting, gluing and sticking and jewellery making. I made some devon scones and then DH came home. It was my turn for some me time then so I decided to sew the skirt I've been planning to make for ages. It's really pretty, a little tight this week but it'll fit better next week!

Loads of pictures....

This is my skirt, absolutely stunning fabric. Cotton baby cord with embroidery and sparkly sequins. I've enough left to make a bag, just need to get some bag handles and boy are they expensive!

Here are the Knucks I made for a present. I have a stash of Rowan wool cotton and was pleased to use the recommended yarn for once. A quick knit once I worked out how to put the fingers together! (a blonde moment was had!) From Knitty summer 06 http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTknucks.html

This is the first side of Jack, by Kate Gilbert. I don't often buy patterns online via pdf but this is so fun. Both girls have requested one. Knitted in Texere Yarns Jamaica.
These were started this weekend too, cable rib socks from Interweave knits, fall 04? After hooking out the gorgeous Fleece Artist Basic Sock (anything but basic if you ask me!) for friday's sock pron, I had to start knitting with the yarn. It's beautiful, sock and substantial all at the same time. Don't you love how the yarn is softly striping in a spiral? I do.

I love your multi-finger colored knucks!! The fabric for your skirt is *beautiful*, too.

(And finger painting looks so fun!) :)

Bag handles are a pain in the arse, most of the ones in our local John Lewis are about five pounds a pair, making handbag crafting very expensive.

I have sourced some very cheap handles on Ebay, do a search for 'bag handles' in the 'crafts' section and see what pops up. I like the look of these:

Oops, forgot to add that sometimes it works out cheaper to bid on a crappy bag (with nice handles) on Ebay than it does to buy just the handles! Have a look yourself and you'll see what I mean. I picked up some gorgeous wooden handles over the summer, very cheaply, by doing this.
